In 2002, Stuart H Brown, Co-founder of Hang It Simple, LLC, left a career in Real Estate and Land Management to try his hand in the restaurant business. Partnering with his brother, the two left middle Georgia for the Florida panhandle, where they’d become licensees for a small, fried chicken franchise.

Over the course of 20 years, they would own, operate and manage 5 stores that were sold in 2022. It became clear very early on that to be successful, organization and maintenance of utensils, tools and equipment would be essential. Even with many options offered by the supply companies, no one wall system would hold the varying styles of cleaning equipment. If they held a large handled broom, they wouldn’t hold the slim handle broom or the aluminum handle of a scrub brush. If they held the slim handle, they were too small for the large handle. There had to be a better way. Unfortunately, it seemed there wasn’t.

Stuart was determined he could do better. With a stainless steel wall plate and some rubber tie downs, Stuart set out to accomplish the goal of one organizer that would hold all different sized handles. With some cutting and riveting, the first proto type was made. Using zip ties (now our oval washer) around the rubber loops, the diameter of the loop could be easily adjusted for each handle size. Cutting and riveting some parts together came easy. Making a unit that could be manufactured and sold to the masses was a much larger challenge. 

After mentioning the initial concept to a mutual friend with his own products, it was suggested that Stuart meet Dale McCarthy owner of Design Consulting Service. Design Consulting Service is an Award-Winning Research and Product Design firm in Pensacola, Florida, with Manufacturing experience, Patent knowledge and experience getting new products to market. Dale knew that the new design would need to be made completely out of Plastic and Rubber with no assembly needed during the manufacturing process to be cost effective and competitive with offshore manufacturers. Together, Stuart and Dale would spend 4 years fine tuning the design to become what is on the market today. This innovative, patented design is now finalized, tooling complete, and the result is what you know and love: Hang It Simple!
